History of Banco National de Comercio Exterior

Founded in 1937. In 1947 Bancomext became a member of the Mexican delegation that participates in the Havana Meeting, where for the first time a multilateral agreement is sought to eliminate tariffs and restrictions on world trade. Bancomext celebrated the first compensation agreements or compensated exchange in 1950. A decade later in 1960 The Bank collaborated in three general objectives of the government’s economic policy: the improvement of the trade balance, the strengthening of the terms of trade and industrialization.

In July 12, 1985, A decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation that transforms the National Bank of Foreign Trade, from a Public Limited Company to a National Credit Corporation, a Development Banking Institution. In 2009 Bancomext is designated to support airlines and tourism due to the health contingency caused by the influenza virus. According to the National Development Plan in 2013 Bancomext aimed to support the development of a prosperous Mexico with economic and social growth by financing foreign trade.
