Before joining Lloyds, Annabel researched sustainable finance innovations for the banking sector at LSE’s Grantham Research Institute and University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). As head of CISL’s Banking Environment Initiative – an R&D collaboration with banks – and as a researcher at Grantham, she pioneered guidance on climate-related corporate engagement, nature-related risks and the just transition.

Previously she worked in the UK capital markets team at Deutsche Bank and has run a small business. Annabel holds a master’s degree from LSE in the Psychology of Economic Life, focused on understanding and shaping behaviours to enable more sustainable business models. With a psychological lens, she researched social systems at play in climate action, supply chains, air pollution education and farming policy communications.

Her dissertation looked at sustainable business and the grey areas in group decision-making. It focused on where tensions between profit and sustainability arise, finding that money considerations typically win out owing to the order in which deals are assessed and the social dynamics at play. She previously graduated in Economics, Econometrics and Spanish from the University of Bristol.
