Guides
Issue 04 . Feb 2026
In collaboration with FCI and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), this guide is designed to demystify Islamic financing and factoring, at a time when Muslim-majority economies expand and comprise over a quarter of the world's population, and demand for Shariah-compliant financing solutions is climbing. Among the fundamental aspects covered, the guide addresses a critical misconception: that Shariah-compliant solutions for factoring are inherently incompatible with conventional finance. By clarifying that receivables discounting is merely one optional component of factoring - not its defining feature - the text reveals how Islamic finance and conventional international factoring can operate within a unified framework. Through detailed explanations of key instruments, case studies spanning from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia to France, and a comprehensive glossary of definitions, the insights provided are equal parts theoretical and practical.
