Swieqi, Malta & Ann Arbor, USA – 24 October 2019: essDOCS, the leading enabler of paperless trade, today announced its partnership with FreightRoll, a provider of inventory custody transfer and tracking solutions. The two companies will jointly offer FreightDocs – a digital solution for truck documents, tracking and reconciliation.

The solution provides for documentation and shipment tracking from dock to delivery, featuring iOS and Android apps to collaboratively manage truck scheduling and relevant documentation. Users receive real-time status updates through app-based tracking, including perimeter-based notifications at pickup/drop-off and immediate Proof of Delivery (POD). Furthermore, FreightDocs can enable seamless connectivity, if required, to relevant ERP/TMS/IMS/EDI systems through an Open API.

The FreightRoll-essDOCS collaboration seeks to actively address major inefficiencies in the North American freight trucking market, an extremely fragmented and paper-heavy industry. Today the truck management process is executed by a combination of phone and email, with TBOLs issued on physical paper almost exclusively and costing US trucking $20+ per shipment.

Commenting on the partnership, FreightRoll CEO, Jake Koppinger, said: “We are very excited to partner with essDOCS. Their far-reaching ecosystem and expertise have been instrumental in delivering high-quality paperless solutions to their global customers for years. Combining this with our domain expertise in digitizing the paper-intensive and opaque trucking industry is a logical step for FreightRoll. FreightDocs will save shippers a significant amount of money, reduce supply chain stress and fundamentally improve the way shippers and carriers communicate.”

essDOCS co-CEO, Alex Goulandris, mentioned that “the North American trucking industry is ready for a shift to paperless solutions and FreightRoll provided the specialised expertise we need for us to address this market.”

The two companies will soon commence a series of trials, which they aim to complete before the end of 2019 and operational rollout starting Q1/2 2020.
